This week I visited the University of Stellenbosch. It is a beautiful university surrounded by mountains. Stellenbosch is also called Eichenbosch, because it is the only place in Africa where oaks (Eichen) are growing. For this reason the university symbol is an oakleaf. It was build in 1866 and it really looks like it. It was pretty hard to find a plug for my laptop, but amazingly I was able to sign into the university network with my german profile from Düsseldorf. I love tech that surprises you with its potential, especially when it is often the other way around. The library of Stellenbosch is in the underground, so it is nice and cool there at every season of the year. Most of the students are white and the local newspaper just reported some kind of bashing against black and colored people. You can see that this country is still divided.
